APT Tattoo Membership

Yearly dues: $150.00

Requirements - Open to those whose occupation is full-time Professional Tattooist, with three (3) years minimum experience in an established location.  

Benefits - dues are a business write-off, membership certificate, ID card, free PDTT® retakes (must pay for initial course), and full voting rights. 

Please note we cannot provide visa letters. 

Yearly dues: $100.00

Requirements - Open to artists with fewer than three (3) years of professional experience or those currently apprenticing with a professional artist.
Benefits - dues are a business write-off, membership certificate, ID card, and full voting rights.

Requirements - open to licensed or certified cosmetic Tattooists. 

Benefits - dues are a business write-off, membership certificate, ID card, and full voting rights.

Yearly dues: $75.00

Requirements - Open to people closely associated with the business of tattooing, but not as a professional tattooist, (example: front office personnel, non-tattooing shop owners, piercers, tattoo enthusiasts, health department officials).

Benefits - dues are a business write-off, and full voting rights.

Yearly dues: FREE

Requirements - Open to individuals working in a regulatory, public health, or government capacity responsible for oversight, licensing, inspection, or regulation of tattooing or body art practices.

Applicants must register using a current government or agency-issued email address associated with their official role.

This membership category is intended to support education, communication, and collaboration between regulators and professional tattoo practitioners.

Regulatory Official Members may receive access to educational resources, safety materials, research updates, and informational programs as determined by the Association. This category includes a digital membership certificate and digital badge.

Regulatory Official Members do not have voting rights and are not eligible to serve on the Board of Directors. Should you wish to receive a membership packet and have voting rights, see Associate Non-Artist membership level. 

The Association reserves the right to verify eligibility and revoke this membership category if qualifications are no longer met.

Yearly dues: $200.00

This vendor level membership is for manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers to the tattoo trade who want to support the mission of the Alliance of Professional Tattooists, Inc. Tattoo studios do not qualify for this membership level. Vendor level members do not have voting rights and are not eligible to hold a Board position.

Benefits: a membership certificate, membership card, and a logo and link in the vendor members section of our Resources page. Vendor level members may also send brochures or handouts for our new member packets and may offer webinars, live Q&A sessions, or discounts for APT members. Contact us to arrange any of these.

Acceptance as a vendor level member is at the discretion of the Board of Directors.

Please note:

• Vendor level membership is never exclusive to any company or product category.
• APT is not a vehicle for any vendor's market position in the tattoo trade.
• Vendor level membership reflects a company's support for APT's mission. It is not an endorsement of the company, its products, or its business practices, and it does not create a partnership or affiliation.
• Vendor level membership is maintained at APT's discretion and depends on the company conducting itself ethically and in support of tattooists.

 We reserve the right to terminate a membership at any time. Reasons for termination may include, but are not limited to:

•Fraudulent activity, harassment, violence and/or threats, or other violations of community guidelines.
•Failure to pay yearly dues.

•Failure to uphold the goals and standards of APT.

•Failure to follow all local, state, and federal body art regulations.

•Must maintain an annual OSHA certified BBP certificate. (APT offers exclusive tattoo artist specific training called PDTT® , taking your body art health and safety knowledge to a new level of professionalism. Free retakes are included with Professional level membership.)

•Resale or use for profit of the Membership Directory.

•Resale or distribution of the PDTT® or any other APT documents/materials. 

Refunds will not be issued if membership is revoked.
